About Us

Who We Are

Emthonjeni music Institution is a music education program aimed at empowering the youth in communities, discovering and nurturing raw talent to professionals. Our focus is mainly on the young people; we strongly believe that we are all created differently with different gifts and talents. It is very important that children discover their purpose and gifts at an early age so that they can start focusing on building their future by acquiring as much relevant knowledge as possible. It is our duty to ensure that the next generation is not pigeon holed and that they have opportunities to explore other careers and modes of success rather than being coaxed by societal expections to pursue careers that are traditionally linked with success. Emthonjeni Music is passionate in equipping these special individuals with skills that will take their talents, discipline and urge to excel to new heights as they endeavor to become great musicians. We need to also create an environment in schools that will cater and educate all different gifts and talents.

How does the tutorial program work?

• Students get to subscribe to the program by choosing an instrument of their choice.
Emthonjeni music offers a variety of musical instruments from beginner to advanced level (Intuition to Grade 7). Learners can only choose one musical instrument at a time.
• Piano
• Guitar
• Violin
• Vocal coaching
• Drums
• Woodwind/brass instruments
• DJ and music production
The next step is to assign each learner to a designated tutor.
Each learner will receive a 30 minutes lesson once per week with our professional
tutors. Lesson time slots are allocated as per the registration of students.

Style of Music

Our methodology is focused on integrating various genres and styles of music, such as classical, jazz, and popular music. We ensure that our learners get a strong foundation that will enable them to sight-read music, compose and perform any style of music they desire to.

Assessment of Progress

All prospective learners may be enrolled with external examination boards for graded examination and accredited certification through ABRSM/UNISA MUSIC FOUNDATION. We further conduct continuous assessments throughout the year to ensure growth and progress through performance exams, recitals, lunch hour concerts, Eisteddfods, school cultural events and activities. Each learner is expected to participate in a recital performance exam at the end of each academic year where they will be assessed by adjudicators and awarded according to their overall performance, and ensemble participation.
